Last weekend, the first scenarios for the redevelopment of Kettingplein in Ghent were enthusiastically welcomed by the residents. The renovated Kettingplein will be the first climate-proof square in Flanders. Special attention is paid to combating the heat island effect in the neighborhood, dealing with heavy rainfall and improving biodiversity.
The refurbishment is therefore seen as an important pilot project from which, based on the lessons learned, the city of Ghent will climate-proof more of its squares in the future.
For this assignment, OMGEVING is working with De Urbanisten.
