Groep Van Roey, POLO Architects and OMGEVING have won the competition for the design and construction of a new service center in Beerse. At the base of the building is a ‘pavilionary scheme’ in which building and park are intertwined. The existing gardens of Tempelhof, the Pastorie, the garden of ‘t Gerucht and Park Bastijns are being transformed into one cohesive municipal park, reinforcing the somewhat latent character of the four ancient gardens and hereby adding to the liveliness of the whole. Meanwhile, one large Hovenpark is created by including contemporary gardens, offering a wide range of facilities for different age groups. Each garden has its own identity and program, with continuous hiking and cycling paths linking them all together.
