Exactly one week ago the selected liveability projects for Over de Ring were announced. For zone West, no less than four of the six proposed projects are part of the selection for the first phase. With this, team West aims to reduce the noise pollution from the motorway by setting up steep verges on both the Zwijndrecht side and the Left Bank side. Additionally, a safer and higher-quality bicycle network ensures improved accessibility within zone West. As icing on the cake, a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge connects left and right bank, bringing the city districts on both sides of the Scheldt closer together. The list of projects in reserve also includes a fifth project for zone West: a 200 metres wide cover over the ring, functioning as an ecological corridor between the Rot and the Vlietbos thus creating one large nature and recreational park of 700 hectares.
