On Friday, July 13, 2018, the Zandpoortvest project in Mechelen was opened. The city of Mechelen and De Vlaamse Waterweg nv invited all the project partners for the official inauguration.
Zandpoortvest is one of the projects coordinated by De Vlaamse Waterweg nv and the city of Mechelen to revitalise its waterways. The refurbishment of Zandpoortvest comprises the transformation of the existing car park into an attractive new public space. The spearhead of the design is the uncovering of the Binnen-Dijle river that ran underneath the car park. OMGEVING took charge of the design in collaboration with SBE and ARA.
