For four years, OMGEVING has worked on the Antwerp Expo master plan. The masterplan focuses on the qualitative renovation of the site, based on a long-term vision. In addition, with the drafting of a ‘planning certificate’, OMGEVING also offered support for the short-term actions for which a legal framework was lacking. At the end of August 2018, the first results of the spatial and legal research will be visible on site.
Commissioned by Easyfairs, the renovation of the façade and the entrance area has begun. By the end of October 2018, before the start of the annual Book Fair, this first phase of the thorough renovation of the event location will be completed. A second phase will be realized by the summer of 2019 and includes the extension of hall 4 with its own entrance area and access road.
During the press presentation on the 17th of September 2018, CEO Dirk Van Roy emphasized the importance of renewing Antwerp Expo to an innovative event location in an urban context with international ambitions.
