The refurbishment of the Alfons Smetsplein in the centre of Leuven is currently in progress. Based on the winning competition design, one third of the existing pavement will be reduced to create space for broad grass steps. The construction is complex due to the presence of an existing underground car park.
The works will be completed in March 2019.
