In the past few months the team of THV Doortocht Menen has been working on the plans to further develop the necessary straightening of the Leie, the renewed bridge in Rijselstraat in the centre of Menen and to fit in a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge outside the city centre, grasping a great opportunity to strengthen the link between the city and the Leie and focussing on urban renewal.
During the info market of 19 June 2019, these plans for the Leie construction works in the centre of Menen, which are part of the Seine Schelde Vlaanderen project, were presented to the neighbourhood. Partners De Vlaamse Waterweg nv and the city of Menen not only aimed to inform the residents about the project, but also to interactively think along with them about the future transformation in the centre of Menen.
Three design and engineering firms are joining forces in the THV: SBE is responsible for the hydraulic engineering, NEY & Partners is in charge of the design of the bridges and OMGEVING is designing the public space. The team is also strengthened by a number of subcontractors with various supporting expertise.
