The design team NEY & Partners – OMGEVING has won the design competition of the city of Ghent for the bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Watersportbaan. The design proposal is based on an elegant, refined bridge construction which is an important link in the supralocal cycling network. In the landscape integration of the bridge, special attention was paid to the seamless connection to the surrounding public space and to the comfort of the various users by guaranteeing the continuity of the well-known Finnish trail under the bridge and by designing safe and well-organised crossings on both sides of the bridge for slow road users.
