OMGEVING wins architecture prize in Veenendaal

OMGEVING was announced the winner of the Veenendaal Architecture Prize ‘De Gilbert’ with the plan ‘De Turfweide’ or ‘Peat field’. In the context of Gilbert van Schoonbeke’s 500th anniversary, an international design competition was launched for an open space on the outskirts of the city. The plan of OMGEVING was conceived as a land art project in which the peat history of Veenendaal is exposed. It will be a dynamic monument in which ecological development and water retention are reconciled with identity, history and tourism. According to the jury, this design can become an important icon for the municipality of Veenendaal.
