The ‘BRAVO-4’ consortium has been selected for the R4WO project, which involves major infrastructure works on the R4 West and East in Ghent. The consortium, which is made up of BESIX Group, Stadsbader, EPICo, Rebel and I4B – The Belgian Infrastructure Fund, includes OMGEVING as a landscape architect and urban planner.
The redesign of this major project with 14 intersections and long, separate cycle highways represents a major landscape and ecological challenge. The aim is to achieve a high-quality integration of infrastructure into the landscape that goes hand in hand with the creation of new nature. OMGEVING is in the team responsible for designing and supervising the implementation of these new green and blue structures around the R4.
The project also implements the vision OMGEVING previously drew up for the Ghent port area on behalf of the province of East Flanders. With almost 30 km of high-quality cycling infrastructure through various attractive new landscapes, OMGEVING is underlining its focus on the liveable, traffic-safe and climate-adaptive living environments of tomorrow.
