design planning regulations ‘heritage’ and ‘inner city’ Veurne approved

Following the ‘quality of life plan Veurne centre’ drawn up by OMGEVING, the municipality of Veurne anchors its vision, outlines and principles in two planning regulations.

The urban regulation ‘heritage’ aims to preserve the built heritage of the city. A separate inventory of valuable buildings has been drawn up and is linked to urban development regulations on facade articulation, facade detailing and historically valuable elements (such as stepped gables and dormers).

The purpose of the urban regulation about the historic city centre is to guard the image value of the inner city and to strengthen the urban area. Rules have therefore been set for, among other things, building height, roof volume, building depth, a lively plinth, materialisation and colouring, lively greenery and mobility.

The design of both has been approved by the municipal council and will go for public consultation from October 9 to November 8, 2023.
