Albert Park - Halle info

The historical Albert Park downtown Halle Belgium, is characterized by a rolling relief with an organic path structure, a species-rich tree scene, several monuments and diverse lines of sight.

The outdated park had been identified as a strategic project in the study ‘Landscape Park Halle’, also created by OMGEVING. The city therefore decided to start upgrading the Albert Park, in particular redesigning the paths and installing high-quality park furniture. In the design process, special attention was paid to the coordination with the city and various stakeholders to achieve a supported design proposal and final realization.

The design combines the historic revaluation of the park with the setting of a contemporary park. Park entrances are aligned with well-chosen seating areas where concrete strips are interspersed with a continuous path network in permeable semi-paving. This creates a strong but subdued material image throughout the park. At the entrances and crossings in the park, curved wooden benches have been placed with integrated lighting. The current green image has been retained and reinforced with lush green borders.

The renewed path structure, comfortable seating areas and upgraded greenery make the Albert Park future-proof with an enhanced park experience.
