Lijnmolenpark - Ghent info

Commissioned by Sogent, OMGEVING drew up an ambition paper, the draft allotment plan and the road plan for the development of the building block bordered by Lijnmolenstraat, Frans Uyttenhovestraat and Sint-Dorotheastraat in Sint-Amandsberg. The site was strongly overgrown and had become a green oasis within the block.

As a pilot project, the level of ambition for this development was high and design research was carried out into a sustainable allotment model with passive houses. Well-considered choices were made at various scale levels in order to achieve this goal. The ambition paper is a summary of all the insights gained during the design process and of the choices made. The document functioned as a supplement and clarification of the subdivision regulations and had the main objective of monitoring the proposed spatial and sustainable qualities during the development of this new part of the city.
The denc! studio and BLAF architects were responsible for the realisation of a total of 44 new ground-level and multi-family dwellings.
