The proposal provides an initial vision for the development of the metropolitan region of Nairobi. The emphasis lies on restoring the integrity of the natural system, protecting the social and economic dynamism that is present, striving to implement sustainable changes, introducing governance and a lively democracy, and expressing a positive identity for the entire region. All these objectives were thematically translated and worked out in strategic locations. In order to solve, among other things, the wide-scale congestion problems in the region, an extensive railway network throughout the metropolitan region was proposed. In the city center, tramways will replace the highways. At the tram stops, the opportunities for the further construction of residential and commercial developments are to be assessed.
